Housing and Allowance Services move to Loxley House from Nottingham City Council in January

A new customer center is expected to open at Nottingham City Council’s Loxley House in January, combining services such as housing assistance and social services.

The Nottingham Revenues and Benefits service, which provides support for housing assistance services and municipal taxes, currently based at Nottingham Central Library on Angel Row, and Housing Assistance, based on Lower Parliament Street, will relocate in a ground floor refitted to join Jobcentre Plus. and Nottingham Futures.

The new customer center will include a new entrance on Trent Street, adjacent to the taxi ranks.

Once inside, color-coded painted rugs, walls and steps will direct people to the services they need, with free PCs available.

The change is being introduced to prevent people from having to make two or three trips to different sites to access help and services.

A new customer hub will open at Loxley House in January

Nottingham Revenues and Benefits will open at Loxley House from Monday 13 January, with housing assistance joining them on Monday 20 January.

As of these dates, these services will no longer be provided at Angel Row or Lower Parliament Street.

The relocation of services will support long-term plans to redevelop Angel Row into office space once the new central library opens in the Broadmarsh parking lot from 2021, and allow the housing assistance site to be redeveloped into new homes.

Councilor Sally Longford, Deputy Head of Nottingham City Council and holder of the Energy, Environment and Democratic Services portfolio, said: People who need to access these services.

“Instead of having to visit two or three sites, it will become a one-stop-shop where real global support can be provided to the people of Nottingham.

“This is a key board commitment: to make life easier for the public, by placing these services in a central location close to our excellent public transport in a supportive environment.

“The relocation of these services also allows us to continue with other key commitments, such as a new central library comprising the best children’s library in the country and more housing in the city center. “
